The Glass Lab at UVM
The Karen Glass Lab at the University of Vermont studies how epigenetic signaling controls gene expression and how disruptions in these pathways contribute to disease, with the goal of developing new therapeutic strategies.
Decoding the Epigenetic Code
Dr. Glass is an Associate Professor in the Pharmacology Department at the University of Vermont. After completing her Ph.D. in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, Dr. Glass carried out postdoctoral training at the University of Colorado Denver under the mentorship of Dr. Tatiana Kutateladze where she became interested in understanding how chromatin reader domains recognize histone post-translational modifications.
Dr. Glass’ current research focuses on how epigenetic signaling regulates gene expression, and how alterations in these pathways are involved in disease development. We are particularly interested in understanding how dynamic changes in the combinations of modifications that make up the histone code regulates the interaction of bromodomain-containing proteins with chromatin.
